Why hey there! It's been a while since we caught up hasn't it!
I hope you are well and life is treating you kindly. November already! Crazy ain't it?
The plan here was to do a top 10/20 list of bonfire night related songs - because as we know, I do like curating lists of songs.
The plan changed though, due to today being a special day. A special day that could of easily gone so awry.
What am I talking about? I'm talking about Bon Jovi album release day!
So yeah, today was the release day of Bon Jovi's long awaited album 'This House Is Not For Sale' and I was excited. The album had been pre-order on Amazon by my wonderful partner and due to be delivered on the day of release. So all good.
As the tweet above highlights, I was waiting for the the postman and anticipated delivery being around dinner time (or lunch if you prefer that system).
Midday came and no sign
Thats fine, it could be about half 12/quarter to 1
1pm came, no parcel, no sign of postman
bloody late today aint he?
1:15... 1:30... 1:45.....
Now this taking the mick
Amazon had dispatched it, an email said so. I was starting to worry that it wasn't going to turn up - subsequently destroying a decade+ tradition of getting the new Jovi album on the day of release.
I was not happy. I was going to have to go to the nearest HMV (almost an hour away) to purchase it. I was not going to have tradition screwed with by outside forces and was certainly not going to "download the Mp3 version" as my partner suggested [She should know better but I let off as she was the one who ordered it for me].
T'was almost 2 o clock and I said "bugger this", or something along those lines. I got my coat and my hat and drove off, frustrated and fumigated, heading to HMV.
Why not Asda or Tesco you ask?
Well they don't stock decent cd's anymore! The last Bon Jovi album I was able to get from those was Lost Highway. But I digress, so back to the story.
I was on a mission, fumigated and frustrated as previously mentioned, on my way to get the cd when I came across a Royal Mail van approximately 3 miles down the road. My mind battled with my mind about what to do, eventually opting to give them the benefit of the doubt and assume that they were on their way to me.
Heading back home I thought that one of two things will happen: either it'll be with me within the next hour and all will be ok, or I'll be berating my benefit of the doubt giving nature.
3 miles back down the road I turn into my street, whereupon I saw another Royal Mail van at the end of my road! Yay! it was either waiting at home or it would be there in a minute or so.
Cutting a long story short, the album was delivered, I inserted the brand spanking new disc into my car and headed off to get my haircut, blessed with the audio spectacular that is 'This House Is Not For Sale'.
And they all lived happily ever after. The end.
"Is he mad? that's ridiculous!" I hear you cry.
Well maybe I am. Maybe it is. Either way, I was not going to not have that cd on this day when that cd was meant for this day.
It could of been a most bogus event, but alls well that ends well.
Phew. I almost lost my cool there.
Thank you for sticking it out, have a great weekend.
All the best
