Del Amitri are a band I've been listening to and enjoying for a lot of years. Introduced to them by my dear uncle many moons ago during my formative years.
The cynicism and general grumpiness in Justin Currie's lyrics suit me down to the ground. The melodies and harmonies that struck a major chord with me way back when, have been strumming away ever since.
This past tuesday the aforementioned uncle and i were lucky enough to hold tickets to the Bristol leg of their latest tour, The A to Z of us.
I'm not a critic here to review. All i can say is i loved it.
From beginning to end they held me in their palms, commanding the stage, reciting many of the great songs that hooked me in in the first place and Justin's voice hasn't aged at all.
The seat did give me a numb bum, but i had a great night and the support band were tremendous too. The O's, check em out!!!!
Other notable excerpts from the day were the 'MacDonalds moment', the french waiter in the posh place where i felt even more common than i am and the apparent apocalypse that was happening back home here in Cornwall.
I now have the most horrendous cold ever, worse than anyone else's I'm sure;) but twas a great experience and well worth suffering for.
